Yorkshire 3 Peaks for Cruse Bereavement

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Our amazing Cavendish Homecare Professionals and Cavendish Professionals team bravely took on the monumental Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. They weren’t just conquering mountains; they were fundraising £5,000 for two incredibly important charity partners: Cruse Bereavement Support and CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

While many enjoyed the sunshine, our determined team faced gale-force winds and hurricane-like conditions. Despite the elements, they completed the formidable 24.5-mile challenge with over 5,000 feet of ascent in an astonishing 11 hours and 20 minutes. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with nature, highlight these vital causes, and enjoy some valuable team bonding time.

What is the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge?

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge is a renowned endurance walk located in the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park. The goal is to hike the three highest peaks – Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough – typically within a 12-hour timeframe. It’s a circular route spanning approximately 24-25 miles and involves significant ascent and descent over challenging, often rugged terrain.

Why were we raising funds for these charities?

Our decision to raise funds for Cruse Bereavement Support and CALM stems from our deep commitment to holistic care and community well-being:

  • Cruse Bereavement Support (our charity partner): Cruse is the UK’s leading bereavement charity, providing free, confidential support, advice, and information to children, young people, and adults when someone dies. As a business rooted in providing compassionate care, we understand first hand the profound impact of grief. Supporting Cruse is fundamental to our ethos because we believe that receiving proper support during times of loss can make all the difference.
  • CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably): CALM is a powerful movement campaigning against suicide. They run a free, confidential helpline and webchat for anyone who is struggling or in crisis, particularly focusing on preventing male suicide, which remains a significant issue.

This challenge was more than just a physical feat; it was a powerful demonstration of our team’s dedication to making a real, positive impact on the lives of others, both through the care we provide and the causes we champion. We are immensely proud of their achievement and grateful for every donation that will help these invaluable charities continue their vital work.
