The Company of Nurses

In 2023, our founder and Registered Nurse Manager, Mairead Liston, became a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Nurses. This prestigious honour, recognising excellence in the nursing profession, is a testament to Mairead’s years of dedicated service and the respect she has earned from her peers. In 2024, Mairead joined the Livery of the Company of Nurses, only open to a select group of freeman, this group works to promote the life changing impact that nurses have in everyday life.

The Company of Nurses was founded in 2016 as the Guild of Nurses, it gained its full recognition as the Worshipful Company of Nurses in May 2023. Joining the ranks of over 110 other Livery Companies, representing various professions and trades in the City of London. Its primary purpose is to represent the nursing profession, promoting its value and supporting its development.

The company is open to all registered nurses, past, present, and future. Membership offers opportunities to connect with colleagues, participate in events, and contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession. Being recognised as a Worshipful Company signifies the growing importance and respect for the nursing profession within the City of London. It allows nurses a platform to have a stronger voice and influence on healthcare policy and decision-making.
