The aim of the awards is to pay tribute to individuals and organisations who provide high-quality, person centred, end-of-life and palliative care, enabling people to have a good life and a good death; recognising accomplishments at all levels from within the social care workforce. These include services for older people, people with learning disabilities and/or autism, volunteers and suppliers of innovative products and services.
There are a variety of categories available for nomination that represents all areas of palliative and end of life care in a social care, hospice or community setting – all with the common thread of celebrating outstanding excellence, best practice, dedication and innovation within this domain.
Nominations for the inaugural Palliative and End of Life Care Awards are now OPEN until April 29th.
Shine a light on best practice in the sector by nominating here now.
The development of the awards program was informed by a recent roundtable discussion hosted by Care Talk Magazine. Renowned registered nurses, Mairead Liston and Maggie Candy, were among the esteemed panellists who explored best practices, service development, and emerging trends in end-of-life care.
The roundtable discussions highlighted the need for increased public understanding of what constitutes good palliative care practices. This knowledge gap can sometimes lead to discrepancies between families and healthcare providers regarding treatment options.
The discussions also emphasised the importance of open communication about end-of-life care, particularly for vulnerable populations like children, individuals with learning disabilities, and those living with dementia. Targeted initiatives and support systems are crucial to ensure everyone receives the care they deserve at the end of life.
The award ceremony itself will be held on June 28th at the Marriott Hotel, Regents Park. We are grateful to Care Talk for providing a platform to discuss this important topic. As proud sponsors of the UK Palliative Care Awards, we eagerly await the ceremony!
